Subproject 4
Project participants: Gert Berger, Susanne Jörns
Title of
SP: Meaning of Precision Farming with respect to the landscape concerning
nature conservation
Short title of SP: Nature conservation
Aims of the
subproject: Improvement
of habitat suitability of agricultural landscapes for typical groups of
organisms (e.g. field birds, Segetal Weeds) with the help of precision farming
which is especially suited for specific aims of nature conservation
Positioning of the subproject within the
network: project field 4
Main focus of work
·
Analysis of deficits concerning
nature conservation
·
Relevance of Precision Farming for the solution of
those deficiencies, including identifying the key factors for the habitat
suitability
·
Development and testing of aim-adjusted techniques for
nature conservation in agricultural landscapes
Hypothesis
·
Precision
Farming is able to provide with the necessary information concerning nature
conservation respect to agricultural crop land as well as required technology
for precise acreage cultivation
Approaching the problem
·
in
heterogeneous plough-land which is characterised by partial areas with high
potential for nature conservation: targeted conservational cultivation of those
partial areas in order to preserve and create habitats for characteristic
groups of species
·
in
homogeneous plough-land without that conservation potential of partial areas:
"higher" biodiversity caused by modification of the homogeneous
conditions with respect to the according conservation aim and the habitat
requirements of typical groups of organisms. E. g.: purposeful installation of
small disturbed areas as brooding and food habitats for the Sky Lark (Alauda arvensis)
