Pp 17: The standardised provision of information utilising external heterogeneous databases through business and its implementation and integration in the extended value-added chain.

Pp short title: Information processing in business

Pp-aims:

-         handbook, formats, and modules for external data exchange with groups of the value-added chain

-         handbook, formats, and software procedures for the retrieval of data from heterogeneous internal and external databases

-         standards and protocols for data processing at precision farming related to the integration of heterogeneously structured databases.

Position of the partial project in the combine:

Focus of this subproject is the information management of the agricultural business with external systems. These systems are information systems of affiliates (partners) in the value chain (preliminary and downstream, respectively) as well as those systems that will provide data or models for the ‘information directed plant production’ (e.g. geo databases, isip) and systems that allow agricultural businesses to publish their own information (eg regional useful production functions). The partial project 7 presents a theoretical approach for the work regarding this subproject. In order to provide a basis for this work, principles for a companywide integration of different applications with data-, task-, and capacity allocation have to be worked out. Thus, implementation architectures for allotted applications will be developed. Technologies will be tested on performance using real data (performance of technologies will be tested using real data). On the one hand, access to information bases on the internet (e.g. geodatabases, information systems of preliminary or downstream areas) can be obtained by XML-interface, online (web service) or offline (agroXML). On the other hand, it has to be determined if other techniques and protocols with time-critical applications should be implemented in particulare cases with performance problems. Thus, this subproject supports the partial project 19 (agroXML) with the agroXML definitions and checks if the lineage of applications within the business and the project or to external databases and programs based on agroXML interfaces can take place. Furthermore, the subproject develops methods, interfaces, and concepts to enable external data import and transmission of data from a business to the value chain. Under practical conditions, a set of software procedures for the retrieval of data files from heterogeneous, internal, and external databases will be tested and optimised.

Essential tasks are at this:

-         Development of procedures to read out data from heterogeneously structured external and internal data bases; particularly to partners in the extended value-added chain of food production (public administration etc.).

-         testing, adjustment, and development of interoperationality products

-         testing the defined data exchange with the value chain

-         preparation of procedures for internal and external data exchange to integrate in office software, definition of standards
